The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development’s (RCMRD) Director General, Dr. Hussein Farah represented the Centre at the 6th African Leadership Conference (ALC) in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. The conference was attended by professionals and experts as well as policy makers from around the African continent. The
ALC started on 1st December, 2015 and ended on 4th December, 2015. This was a strong continental avenue for presenting and discussing important issues related to space sciences and latest technology for the Africa. The conference enabled continental awareness of African space policy and strategy, leverage communication and coordination, and foster African space activities and initiatives. The ALC also presented an opportunity for attendees to discuss the challenges and opportunities for space science and technology and its application in the continent to improve the quality of life for the citizens. By the conclusion of the meeting, there was a major resolution for the formation of African Space Agency and adaption of African Policy and Strategies on Space Science and Technology by the Africa Union.
