RCMRD/SERVIR E&SA held consultations with key government ministries in Rwanda to finalize the development of the Rwanda Land Use Decision Support tool. The consultations build on the deliberations and outcomes from the SERVIR E&SA in-country user needs assessment conducted on 26th-27th May 2016. Rwanda Water and Forestry Authority (RWFA), Rwanda Land Management and Users Authority (RLMUA), Ministry of Agriculture (MINAGRI), Rwanda Housing Authority (RHA), Ministry of Disaster Management and Refugee Affairs (MIDIMAR), National Institute of Statistics Rwanda, Rwanda Natural Capital Accounting Group and University of Rwanda participated in the discussions held from April 4th -6th, 2017.

The discussions that targeted managers and technical staff in the ministries will ascertain identified priorities in specific decisions linked to Land use Land Cover change, land degradation and landslides. The Rwanda Land Use Decision Tool will build on existing datasets, information and tools to provide a dynamic decision support system to aid in specific land use planning and management decisions.
