Grace Koech (GIS Technical Assistant) represented RCMRD at the Fifth International Conference on Climate Services in Innovation and Capacity Building, an event jointly organized by the Climate System Analysis Group (CSAG) and the Climate Services Partnership secretariat at the Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS) at the
University of Cape Town, Cape Town, South Africa from 28th February to 2nd March, 2017. The conference explored different methods and frameworks across the field of climate services, and how they could work together and complement each other for capacity development and growth of knowledge and partnerships. The main focus of the conference was exchange of capacities by users, technologies used, bridging of different working and knowledge areas, and engagement. The conference provided a platform for presenting on-going initiatives, findings and lessons learned, and allowed for the exploration of opportunities for program linkages and collaboration. It attracted climate services users, providers, donors and researchers from all over the world, to provide a space to explore opportunities for communication, knowledge exchange and cooperation across the continent, including networks of knowledge that are already working to provide science-based services to society in the field of adaptation to climate change.
