The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) signed a memorandum of understanding with Esri Eastern Africa and ESRI Rwanda on 17th May, 2016. Esri is one of the largest producers of mapping software in the world. The aim of the memorandum of understanding is to develop mutual collaboration between

RCMRD and Esri Eastern Africa and Esri Rwanda in promoting and developing geo-information products and services for sustainable development in the Easter Africa region and beyond. The collaboration between the two organizations will play an important role in the adoption of geo-information technology; designing of models necessary for monitoring and realizing Sustainable Development Goals; implementation of National Spatial Data Infrastructures; conducting outreach, training and education activities; and undertaking research, development and innovation.
