The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the County government of Murang’a on 26th January, 2016. The signing took place at the county government’s board room between RCMRD’s representatives and Murang’a County government’s representatives including the county secretary, County Executive Committee (CEC) member (Lands, Housing & Planning) Hon. Sarah Masaki and CEC member – Eng. Amos Njoroge.
RCMRD and Murang’a County government will strive to, as an initial undertaking partner on services related to building capacities in order to strengthen efforts towards improved agricultural production and infrastructural and social economic development of the county. The parties will collaborate in capacity building, training technical and specialized professionals, promoting Geo-information and project services as well as advisory services to address governance in the county. Also, both RCMRD and Murang’a County government will consider mutual arrangements to meet financial obligations for programs initiated between them or with a third party in accordance with the agreement drawn between the parties.
Murang’a County is one of the five counties in the central region of the republic of Kenya. It is bordered to the North by Nyeri, to the South by Kiambu, to the West by Nyandarua and to the East by Kirinyaga, Embu and Machakos counties. The county has a population of 942,581 (2009 census) and it occupies a total area of 2,558.8 km2.
