SusAG Foundation Project
The African Agriculture Adaptation Atlas (AAAA) is a transformative tool designed to support Kenya's agricultural landscape in addressing the multifaceted challenges posed by climate change. In order to support this, SusAg Foundation Project by RCMRD is one of the use cases for the AAAA for Kenya among other partners managed by Sustainable Agriculture Foundation with funding from the Gates Foundation.
By aligning with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and Climate-Smart Agriculture initiatives, RCMRD intends to use the Atlas in the provision of data-driven insights to empower smallholder farmers, policymakers, and stakeholders through generation of knowledge products. It is envisioned that from the Atlas will contribute to generation of localized approaches, enabling county-specific adaptation strategies tailored to Kenya’s diverse agro-ecological zones.
Through features like interactive maps, adaptive farming recommendations, and real-time climate data, the Atlas will foster resilience and sustainability in agriculture. RCMRD will play a pivotal role, partnering with the Ministry of Agriculture to refine and customize the platform. This collaboration includes developing knowledge products such as maps, bulletins, and gender-specific feasibility reports, alongside training county stakeholders to use the Atlas for scenario analysis and decision- making. These efforts aim to enhance food security, promote low-carbon development, and build adaptive capacity in Kenya’s agriculture sector, ensuring alignment with the Kenya Vision 2030 and broader climate resilience goals.
